Max

Max's Story

For the first year of his life, Max did all he could to please his owner. His rough start in a puppy mill and subsequently being sold at a pet store didn't deter Max from wanting to make all humans smile. Especially his owner! He always pottied outside. He only played with HIS toys. He didn't bark when he wasn't supposed to. He stay at her feet and didn't jump. Max wanted nothing but to please his owner and be sure she'd love him forever.

Then, one day, one-year-old Max, being a Jack Russell Terrier, followed his nose. For a moment he forgot the rule and he ran into the street. Max was hit by a car.

The owner that Max always tried to please refused to get him the medical attention he so needed. Because he was still eating, she figured nothing was wrong. You see, Max had never seen a vet before... she did not want to start taking him to one now!

Luckily, Max's owner had a family member who truly loves and cares about animals. She went and visited Max's owners and could tell something was very, very wrong. In tears, she contacted Marilyn's Voice for help.

We immediately arranged for Max to see a vet, and for him to be surrendered to our care. It was soon found out by a specialist that Max has a severely fractured pelvis. The vet was astounded by what a happy, friendly dog little Max was despite his intense pain. Indeed, even in pain that most humans could not bare without passing out, Max continues to try to please.

Max's treatment will cost in excess of $5,000. On top of this treatment, he still has to receive all vaccinations, neuter, heartworm test, and deworming since, again, he has NEVER SEEN A VET!
