Just wanted to give you a quick update on Lancelot. On October 16, we celebrated his one year anniversary with us!! We want to thank you because we realize without you and the volunteers behind the scenes, we would not have Lance, and we can't imagine our home without him. Please extend our gratitude to all!! As soon as I figure out how to send pictures via email from my new phone, I will certainly send some. Lance looks terrific-very healthy, beautiful white coat! He is a SUPER dog, and very smart too! He is quick to catch on. He is no longer shy and timid. He is fun and has an endearing rambuncious side, letting us know when he wants to play. He has graduated to having the roam of the house w/ a few restrictions when we aren't home. He still depends on his crate when there are thunderstorms and fireworks, but generally stays near us. He is the neighborhood sweetheart. All the kids love him, and he is very patient with their attention on him. Other neighbors have verbalized what a fantastic dog he is. When we stop to talk to neighbors, he sits/lays patiently. He walks without a leash (unless there are other dogs, at which time he walks great on a leash-you don't even know he's there), staying close and always knows when to stop and wait to cross a street. He no longer goes after squirrels...he stares at them, and once they're up a tree he jumps up on the tree trunk and barks at them LOL. Probably realized they weren't worth chasing. He likes being outside. When we're working around the yard, or enjoying a glass of wine on the front porch, he just regally "keeps guard" in the front yard. He doesn't get riled by any passers by. He's a good listener, coming when called, and always seems to know what you're saying or requesting something of him because he always knows what to do. We've never heard him whine for anything. He does not beg for food when we eat (We had a dog who did do this, and what a gift to have a dog who doesn't!). He does not fuss when we leave the house...but we love the greeting we get upon our return!! He is a happy, healthy (had his annual checkup 2 weeks ago-doing great!), awesome dog, and we could not be happier!! The Lewis household would not be complete without him. I remember Jane said to me before I met Lance, but had many questions from her experience with him in foster...her first words about him were, "He's a love". Indeed, he is! He makes us smile and laugh often. He is a great joy! It is with deep gratitude that we thank you for selecting us out of the list of potential adopters...he is most definately in the right home !! :-)

Hello and happy new year! After reviewing our year over new year's eve dinner, my husband Julian and I agreed that the highlight of our year was adopting Lancelot! He is a GEM!!! He has adjusted so well. He is no longer a timid, shy dog. He is a lovable, friendly, laid back, happy dog. We saw progress almost daily as he "came out of his shell". He is eating healthfully twice daily, drinks plenty of water, has overcome all his health issues, has gained weight, is on a regular walking/potty schedule. He is great about sleeping the whole night through. He is comfortable in the entire house, having moved away from his 3 "safe spots". He feels free to roam and relax where he wishes. Lance gets crated when we are not home (which is not frequent since Julian works out of the house), which he doesn't mind. He is SO SMART! When he sees keys in hand, jackets on, he goes right on into his crate! We love our greetings from him. He is always excited and happy to see us. The neighborhood is in love with him as well. Lance will walk without a leash - listens to commands, comes when called, and always has us in his sights. He enjoys running and exploring on the golf course where Julian works seasonally. The freedom provides great excercise. He loves chasing squirrels - often looking up into trees to see if he can see any. He doesn't like rain, but he LOVES the snow. Our family and friends have included him in Christmas by giving him gifts of treats and toys. He handles a houseful of guests well, taking a break in his "safe spots" when he feels the need. He is gentle around kids. He has begun to bark here and there. We are working on his playing. He hasn't caught on yet on how to play, yet he is playful in his interactions with us. We feel extremely lucky to have him! His is a huge joy for us!! Our friends and family have also commented what a fantastic dog he is! We wish you all a happy health new year! Take care.
